Hub Sites

Felix students learn every day out of community hub sites located across Massachusetts. At hub sites, Felix students join peers and Success Coaches in beautiful, state of the art facilities designed for learning and enrichment.

Year 1

We’re launching at the West End House Boys & Girls Club in Allston, MA.

The second year-1 site is under consideration.

Vision for Expansion

In future years Felix will open more hub sites across the state.

A fully collaborative, human-centered learning environment … This isn’t your grandma’s zoom call!

Digital Campus

What kinds of things can I do in the digital campus?

  • Spontaneously run into your friends in the common hangout lounge

  • Join your tutorial classes

  • Join seminar with your peers

  • Have sidebar conversations in larger common rooms (yes, there’s proximity hearing!)

  • Collaborate on a whiteboard, google doc, etc. 

  • Drop by my Learning Guide’s office for some extra support

  • Swing by my virtual club (think statewide chess club!)

  • Felix offers accommodations for students with an IEP or in need of other special accommodations. This digital campus integrates seamlessly for students with Canvas, where all asynchronous content lives.

    Translation Tools: Canvas

    • Course Text: Microsoft Immersive Reader allows for translation of words in multiple languages for language learners to click on text, translate, and hear it spoken

    • Videos: can be uploaded with translations/captions

    Live Captions/Transcription for Synchronous Sessions: InSpace

    • Automated closed captioning in English

    • Google Chrome Live Caption for browser

    • Live closed captioning into multiple languages (browser extension using Google Translate)

    • Session transcripts available for recorded sessions

    • StreamText closed captioning with live transcriber

    • Interpreter “Tethering” available

    Screen Reader Compatibility: Canvas + InSpace

    Vision Enhancement: Canvas

    • High Contrast UI: When enabled, this feature offers higher contrast in buttons, tabs, and other areas throughout Canvas.

    • Underline Links: When enabled, this feature underlines hyperlinks in navigation menus, the Dashboard, and page sidebars.

    • Microsoft Immersive Reader: enables translation, contrast links, and visual separation of words/lines

    ASL Interpretation: Asynchronous (Canvas)

    • Interpreter can be invited to a Canvas course as an “Observer” role and be paired to the specific student

    ASL Interpretation: Synchronous (InSpace)
